Winmate has presented its 2026 product roadmap for rugged laptops. The update covers models with 13.3″, 14″, and 15.6″ displays and includes the transition to new Intel Core Ultra processors, expanded discrete graphics capabilities, upgraded storage options, and further design improvements for operation in demanding environments.
For professional users, a rugged laptop is more than just a high-performance computer. Key considerations include battery life, enclosure protection, display readability, available interfaces, peripheral connectivity, and ease of maintenance.
New Intel Core Ultra Processors
One of the key directions in the development of Winmate laptops in 2026 is the transition to Intel Core Ultra processors.
The lineup includes configurations with Intel Core Ultra 5 125U, Core Ultra 5 225U, Core Ultra 7 155H, and Core Ultra 7 255H processors. The new platforms support an NPU and Intel AI Boost technology, enabling AI workloads to be processed directly on the device.
Winmate is also planning further platform development based on Intel Arrow Lake and Nova Lake.
Rugged Winmate L156 Laptop
The L156 series features 15.6″ displays with FHD or 4K resolution. Anti-glare technology improves readability in bright outdoor conditions, while the projected capacitive touchscreen supports Rain and Glove modes.
The enclosure is made of magnesium alloy and features a reinforced design for additional protection against mechanical damage. The laptop is rated IP65 for protection against dust and water.
For configurations requiring higher graphics performance, discrete NVIDIA graphics based on MXM modules are available. The lineup includes NVIDIA A500, A1000, A2000, RTX 2000 Ada, and A4500 options. Winmate also plans to introduce new Blackwell-generation graphics modules in the future.
L140 Series: A More Compact Format
The 14-inch L140 series combines a rugged design with a more compact form factor. Depending on the model, FHD and 4K displays are available, along with a touchscreen supporting Rain, Glove, and Stylus modes. An optional second Gigabit Ethernet port is also available.
Like the L156, the L140 series features a magnesium alloy enclosure, IP65 protection, and a dual-battery configuration with hot-swappable batteries.
Battery Life and Serviceability
Hot-swappable batteries allow the battery pack to be replaced without fully shutting down the system. This is particularly useful during extended field operations.
The laptops support the installation of a second M.2 NVMe SSD with a capacity of up to 2 TB. The L156 also supports RAID. Dedicated service access panels provide access to the RAM and storage without requiring complete disassembly of the enclosure.
The new LM140 series features a removable SSD, simplifying storage replacement and maintenance.
Professional Interfaces and Docking
Winmate rugged laptops are equipped with a wide range of physical interfaces. Depending on the configuration, available interfaces include USB 3.2, USB 2.0, Ethernet, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB Type-C, RS232, and RS422/RS485 with software-selectable operation.
Docking solutions are available for the L140 and L156 series, including a vehicle docking station. It supports charging through the docking connector and provides Ethernet, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, and RS232 interfaces.
